After exploding offensively in an opening day win, the Roadrunner men's soccer team struggled to put the ball in the net vs, visiting Manor College Thursday afternoon.
The win improved RCSJ Gloucester's record to 2-0 overall.
The Runners scored multiple goals in a 7-0 win over Penn State Lehigh Valley on August 31, but ran into a tougher opponent in yesterday's home opener.
"We made it closer than it should have been," said Coach George Hobbins. "We didn't play well offensively except for some spots in the second half. We did hold our own on defense and that was the key to the win -- and it is nice to start the season at 2-0."
The Roadrunners will face another tough opponent on the road Saturday in a 12 noon start at Sussex County Community College before hosting Camden County College on September 10.
Roadrunner men's soccer will play their home opener Thursday, September 5 when Manor College (PA.) makes a visit to Deptford, NJ.
The Runners, coached by George Hobbins, started the season on a strong note by blanking Penn State Lehigh Valley 7-0 on the road on August 30. Sophomore Justin Phy led the way with two goals while teammate Santino Mancini added three assists.
Kickoff is at 3:30 pm.
