Roadrunner Volleyball is off to a solid start to the new season, and they hope to extend that outstanding efforts when they host Atlantic Cape CC tonight in a 6 pm home match in Deptford, NJ.
The Runners, who beat the Bucs, 3-1, on the road Monday night, look to complete the home and home sweep tonight. The squad, coached by Samantha Bevilacqua, showed plenty of promise in their opening day home tri-matches versus traditional power Raritan Valley and conference rival Sussex CCC. The Runners lost to RV by a 3-0 score, however the sets were competitive. Coach Bevilacqua's team refused to quit as they bounced back to claim a well=played 3-0 decision over Sussex.
Abigail Butts, Elizabeth Mathis, Catriana Haas, and Marissa Van Atter each made major contributions for the Runners as they showed solid play around the net and plenty of resiliency thus far in the early matches. They have propelled the team to a 2-1 start in the young season.
"We were excited to come out the home tri-match with a 1-1 split," said Coach Bevilacqua. "Our players showed up and fought hard all day long. While this was their first match day of the season, each point highlighted our trust, grit, and unity. We're going to keep building on this momentum and growing stronger, together."
And with the Monday night win vs. Atlantic Cape, the team's fine play indeed continued -- and they hope to keep the momentum going tonight vs. the Bucs at home.
