After dropping two in a row and three out of four in recent games, the Roadrunner Women's Basketball team sorely needed a boost heading toward the postseason.
They got it.
On Feb. 5, they disposed of GSAC and Region 19 rival Camden County College, 70-55, in the final home game of the season, which included Sophomore night.
On Feb. 7, they hit the road and snatched a hard-fought 59-49 win at Passaic CCC to make it two wins in a row and improve their overall record to 16-6.
"We needed to make sure we were paying attention to all the details that got us off to a good start," said veteran Coach Cooper. "We settled back and tightened up the defense, and we also started to control the boards again. This put us back on track."
Sophomores Shannon Pierman and Atinuke Bamgbose proved to ne key factors in both wins.
Against Camden County, the Runners broke open a tight game with a 23-11 surge in the fourth quarter. Pierman deposited 24 points while "Tinu" added 15 points, with both players controlling the boards and getting their of points in the paint.
Against Passaic, Pierman tossed in 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Tinu chipped in with 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Guard Anna Dipiero contributed offensively as well, connecting on six three-pointers and a combined 18 points in both games.
The Runners close out their season with three road games at Sussex, Community College of Philadelphia and Montgomery County prior to the start of the Region 19 playoffs.
