Congrats to Coach Rich Cooper on collecting the 208th win of his lengthy career, 71-54, over Salem Community College on Saturday -- a win that ties him for the all-time No, 1 spot in school history with former Coach Tom McCormack.
Leading the way for the Runners was sophomore guard Anna Dipiero, who put on a shooting clinic with seven three-point baskets for 21 points.
The Runners led by as many as 22 points in the second half before the Mighty Oaks climbed to within 8 points late in the GSAC contest. But the Runners pulled it together, closing out the game with a late surge for the hard-fought win.
The win was especially meaningful to Coach Cooper, who served as an assistant under McCormack for one season prior to becoming head coach. Cooper improved his career record to 208-85 with the triumph.
"It means a lot to tie his record -- he was a great coach and has always been very supportive. He attends a lot of our games. It means a lot to me personally."
RCSJ guard Alaina LaMonica also pumped in 20 points while center Shannon Pierman added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Next for the Runners is an away match at Ocean County College in a 5 pm start on Tuesday afternoon.
