Today, we highlight softball standout Jordan Johnson, who led the Roadrunners to a Region 19 championship last season and is enjoying another banner year under veteran Coach Steve DePasquale.
Year: Sophomore.
High School: Highland Regional, Class of 2024.
Position: Centerfield
Major: Physical Education. Jordan will continue her academic and athletics career at Rutgers-Camden and hopes to gain employment as a physical education teacher or in a similar position upon graduation.
Favorite Activities: Jordan enjoys going to the beach and attending Phillies' games. Her favorite player is the Phillies' Bryson Stott.
About Jordan Johnson: Jordan is enjoying another banner season for the Roadrunners, batting .475 with 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and 31 runs scored in 20 games from the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
In one recent doubleheader, she collected 7 hits in 8 at bats with two inside-the-park home runs and 5 runs scored!
During her freshman season at RCSJ, Jordan played 43 games, finishing with a .442 batting average, 23 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.
She played four seasons of softball at Highland with a career .446 batting average.
Jordan Johnson on her transition to the college game: "The game is played at a much faster level here and I've had to improve my reaction times once I got here," said Jordan. "The coaches have been great helping me make this transition.
"It's also been a lot of fun playing on a winning team and getting ready for the playoffs. We expect to continue to do well although it's been tough finding our groove this season with the weather postponing a lot of our games."
Coach Steve DePasquale on Jordan Johnson: "Jordan has been a consistent, steady player in our lineup -- you can always rely on her," said DePasquale. "She's made a nice transition to a leadership role this season. She leads quietly by example with her hard work and hustle on the field."
