The men's and women's cross country teams faced a good deal of their Region 19 competition this past weekend at the Jersey Blues Invitational hosted by Brookdale Community College. The teams once again fared well on a sunny and warm day and had some excellent racing despite missing a few athletes. The teams returned home with 6 medal winners placing in the top 10 of their respective races.

The women's team was led once again by Kayla Ayars with a thrilling battle over the entire 5k course to come in a close 2nd place. The other Roadrunner ladies also had gutsy performances to bring home medals, with Gabby Szwed placing 8th and Amelia Helkowski right behind in 9th.

For the 3rd time this year, the men's team was led by a different Roadrunner. This week's honors went to sophomore Kevin Profico, who turned in an amazing race to battle for the lead and, like Kayla on the women's side, brought home a 2nd place medal. Ryne Handley ran right on Kevin's heels and ended up placing 3rd. Sean Gallo was not far behind with his 7th place finish to round out the medals for the Roadrunner men. Sebastian Koehn and Dan Mumbower rounded out the scoring for the team, as they finished 2nd in the team scoring to host Brookdale.
