Roadrunner Men's Tennis captured the program's 12th overall Region 19 crown with a tight decision over Mercer CCC Saturday at Mercer County Park.
The team triumph was especially meaningful to Singles and Doubles' standouts Chase Rollins and Maddox Marker, both returnees this spring and former teammates at Pitman High School/.
"We lost by one point last season, so this meant a lot to bounce back like we did," said Rollins. "It was a great team effort."
"We wanted to be the ones to walk out of Mercer County Park with the team trophy -- and we did," added Marker. "We beat a tough team to get it done."

“Great feeling to be pushed to limit and come out on top," said Coach Brian Rowan. "Thats what you train for. Everyone performed in service of the team and the effort was outstanding. We didn’t really talk about it but you could tell everyone really wanted this for Chase (Rollins) and Maddox )Marker) our leaders and that was really impressive. Those guys deserve it.”
The Second Doubles team of Lucius Davis and TJ Natalie clinched the triumph with an impressive win over a tough Vikings' opponent.
“Our Second Doubles team clinching it was really special," Coach Rowan noted, "Lucius Davis and TJ Natalie played their best tennis all season on the biggest day outhitting a tough Mercer team that had beaten them twice this season. Great, great way for us to clinch the title - the whole program is really proud of them.”
The Roadrunners, co-GSAC champions, qualified for the NJCAA Nationals in Plano, TX, after splitting their regular-season matches with Mercer.
